English Month Celebration 2018

In our country, the Philippines, every child has the right to attain quality education. The Department of Education has the highest amount of fund to ensure that students are given quality education that they deserve. Many students nowadays are suffering from depression, victims of bullying, are becoming teenage moms, experiencing different life problems and eventually drop out of school. Most of them do not even know how to read or have not yet mastered reading.

Since we attended preschool until we entered to universities, we were taught of reading. Many people do not like reading because it is boring and tiring, it is time-consuming. Some lose their interest because some words are so deep that they do not understand the content anymore. But the thing they do not know is that there is a wondurful world inside those books, a magical world that would make them escape from reality. Stories that can widen your imagination and make it more creative. Characters from those stories that can relate from. Scenes that trigger emotions. Stories that can lift up their mood. Great articles to start the day. Stories that complete the day. Fables that can be learned from. Amazing myths. Wonderful epics. Marvelous legends. Many stories that can be learned from and can make life more convenient and worth living.

Let us all engage ourselves in reading so that the efforts of the government in making the people better would not be wasted. Let us all continue to pursue our dreams in life. If we all learn to love reading, we can turn our ordinary life into something extra and magical. Our boring life would turn into something wonderful. If we are all good at reading, we can all be smart and intelligent fit in a globally competative nation.

Image result for gadgets

United Nations Month Celebration

Me Too

Violence. Abuse. Child Labor. Child trafficking. Prostitution. Many people around the Philippines doesn't practice universal rights and doesn't value and doesn't care about oneself's dignity. Some doesn't even know about it, especially those in some regions who experience extreme poverty.

Many people, especially women and children, experience violence. It is their right to speak and to be heard. But they prefered to remain silent. That is why it is very hard to address this problem. It is the childrens' right to attend school and get quality education. It is their right to play. They have to enjoy their childhood. But beacause of poverty, they  are forced to find a job at a young age in order for them to sustain their daily needs. Sometimes, the money they recieve or their pay is not even enough to buy food. Because of poverty, some people sell street children and make them slaves. Because of poverty, women are forced to get naked in front of their customers in order for them to gain money.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, Article III, Bill of Rights, Section 1, "No man should be deprived of life, liberty, and property, without due process of law, nor any person shall be denied the equal protection of the law", so it is understood that what they are doing is against the law, and against the right of human beings.

This comtemporary issue is very related to this year's United Nation Month Celebration theme, "Coming Together with those Furthest Behind Build an Inclusive World of Universal Right and Dignity."

We must all be awared of what is happening around us. We must not let the rotten system of justice in our country eat us. We must fight until the end. We are all a part of this world. Let us work hand in hand to help address such issues. We might not know, one day, we are the victims already, ofcourse we are not letting that happen. NEVER AGAIN.

World Teachers' Day Celebration

WHO ARE THEY?

"Good morning ma'am/sir! Its nice to see you again!" Greeting them with love and joy makes them feel welcomed and showing your eagerness to learn is something that inspires them to do more. During some activities, we laugh together, we experience happiness together, we cry together and we get sad together. During class sessions, we are inspired together and learn together. But sometimes we tend to forget to thank them. Who 'them'? OUR TEACHERS.

We love our teachers because of the very friendly attitude they have, for they are good in teaching, they are not boring, they make the complicated lessons look easy, and they make the class more participative. Many of them knows how to adjust to the nature of their students. They make their students feel loved and appreciated. But admit it, there are also those teachers whom you hate because they give so many requirements. You hate them because they told you that you are not doing well in class even though you are already giving your hundred and one percent best. You hate your teacher who criticized your work, telling your work was not good, done only for compliance even if to you, it is already a masterpiece. You hate your teacher who gives you low grades even if you know that you deserve a higher one. You hate your teacher who called you 'stupid' just because you don't understand the lesson. You hate your teacher who told your class 'the worst batch ever'. All of those are part of your life as a student. But try to consider the fact that they also get tired. They also get stressed. You both do. Don't get mad at them, their just doing their job.

But, have you ever tried to reflect on what is happening around you and came up with a conclusion that you also have a mistake? Have you ever realized that they are doing it because they want you to strive harder in order for you to become the bestest version of yourself? That they are doing it in preparation for your future? Have you tried to look on the positive side of life? No. Because you were only thinking about yourself. How about the sacrifices they have done? The efforts they have exerted? The knowledge that they have imparted? The memories you have shared? The good things that they have dona? Try to think of it.

Let us not forget to thank them. Always remember that we all have our strenghts and weaknesses and that no one is perfect. Let us bear in our minds amd in our hearts that they are doing their best in any ways possible to give the quality education that we deserve. They are the backbone of our society, they are the foundation, the reason why we are standing, striving to be the best that we can be. And for that, they really deserve to be called 'heroes'. Who are they again? OUR TEACHERS.

FilipiKNOWS

From a time so long that it can no longer be remembered, we, Filipinos are tested by innumerable natural calamities such as volcanic erruptions and super typhoons and many more together with human induced disasters like wars and triumphantly, we conquered these challenges beyond the ingenuity  of the human race. Because of these, we are known to be resilient.

in the Philippine history, many tragedic events had happened. We have this Super Typhoon Yolanda which hitted mainly in Visayas last 2013. The people who were affected by the said disaster spent their Christmas suffering from hunger, malnutriton, and depression. Some had their homes washed out by the flash flood. Many went missing and many were found dead. We also have the earthquake in Baguio City where thousands of people died. There is also this war in Marawi City which lasted for several months. The city was tore down. Many lost their homes. Some family members volunteered to be part of the country's military without even thinking if they would come back home alive. Many sacrificed their lives and joined the ISIS. The whole world hoped and prayed for it to last. Thousands of people are suffering from these tragedic happenings but they never gave up with the hope that the sun will rise again.

Filipinos survived. We know how to cope with these kind of happenings. We don't know how tp give up. You can see it in our smiles that despite of what happened, we are still happy that we are alive. But you can see it in our eyes how miserable we are, how obsessed we are to have a perfect life. But I guess, nothng is really perfect. We can just put in our minds that God gave us these challenges because he knows that we can overcome it. We are not hesitating to uplift the spirit of camaradery in every moment possible. We know we can do it because WE ARE RESILIENT.

Quarter 1: Challenge Accepted!

Technology had come a long way and it contributed a lot in the history of human beings. Communication, interaction, and such, through the use of technology, is already a part of our daily lives.

During our first quarter, we learned about blogs. Through blogging, I realized that interaction is very important. As they say, "no man is an island". I also discovered that writing an article is fun and amazing, with the idea of it, that people will going to read your posts online and they will also be inspired to do things that are beneficial and significant to the society that they live in. I also learned that you have to express yourself because especially in a democratic country like ours, our opinion matters and we must know how to practice or execute our rights as citizens of this nation. I learned that it is also very important to acknowldege and give credits to the sources that you have based your article. You might not know, one day, someone will mail you a letter, telling you that you are already against the law, by reproducing a copyrighted work.

There are two problems that I have encountered. First is that, I have some difficulty in composing a constructive article. I am afraid that people who read my essays would judge me because of some ungrammatical statements. Second and last is that I m not a pro in using technologies. Whenever we have works to do at home, I don't know what I am doing.

I conquered the first challenge by simply thinking that my skills in using the English language does not define my intellect. There is nothing wrong of committing mistakes. We are all humans and we are all imperfect; it is natural for us to have mistakes. It is just that you should be open for improvements. I also worked hard in order for me to master what I am doing. You should know how to turn your weakness into your strength and let it make you better next time.

Moving on, I will not forget what I have learned and apply these to whatever circumstances I am going to encounter in my life. I will do my best to develop myself into becoming the best version of me.

. Embedded journalism refers to news reporters being attached to military units involved in armed conflicts. While the term could be applied to many historical interactions between journalists and military personnel, it first came to be used in the media coverage of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The United States military responded to pressure from the country's news media who were disappointed by the level of access granted during the 1991 Gulf War and the 2001 U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.

State of the Nation Address 2018

SONA: A Speech to Progress

"Leadersip is not about position or designation. It is about having impact to the people that you are leading, influencing them to do good, and being responsible enough for his duties." It has been three years when President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, was declared as the new one. Last July 22, 2018, he had his third State of the Natiom Address, talking about the projects that he had already accomplished and the ones that he wants to have or conduct for the improvement and development of our country.

In his said speech, he stated his administration's War on Drug campaign. He said that it is far from over. He also talked about human rights. According to him, human right means giving Filipinos, especially those at society's fringes, a decent and dignified future through social and physical infastructures necessary to better their lives. He also said that corruption must stop. He also wants to strengthen international relations especially to China including Indonesia and Malaysia. He also admires migrant workers for their selflessness and courage in inducing the hardships of living away from home to provide their families. He also stated the issue about Contractualization. He also talked about the rehabilitation of the Boracay Island. He also wants to lower telecommunication rates. He also urged the senate to administer another department responsible for Disaster Management. He also mentioned about environment, health, and taxes.

We are expecting so much from him. We can truly feel and experience the change that he was telling while he was still campaigning for his presidency. All we can do is to support him in all of his projects. We should make him feel that he is not alone in this journey towards achieving the change, the improvement of our country that we are dreaming of.

Wikang Filipino: Tulay Tungo ss Tunay na Pagbabago

Interaksyon. Pagunawa. Pagkakaisa.

Healthy Living

A healthy body, a healthy mind, and a healthy soul is the foundation of doing great things every day and our building blocks towards achieving our goals in life. That is the learning institution always celebrate the month of nutrition annually. This lets us think about and bear in mind the value of having a healthy lifestyle.

This year’s theme for nutrition month celebration, “Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon, Aanihin”, talks about planting of course. It encourages us to plant different kinds of vegetables and fruit in our own yards because we should avoid foods that were sprayed with inorganic fertilizers, chemicals as pesticide and so on and so forth, which farmers are using nowadays. It is also about avoiding or eating less foods with preservatives in it. Rather than eating such, we can cook snacks from the ones that we planted instead. It is far healthier than those. It pertains to planting together as a family as a form of bonding. We all know that children today are busy with their gadgets, modern technology and such, so you can invite them to plant with you in order for them also to realize practical living. According to some researchers, planting is also a good way of reducing stress so encourage them to have time to relax and enjoy life.

The institution also laid many activities both for the students and for the teachers in order for them to develop and improve their health and their capability to do great things in the power of unity, cooperation, brain storming and team work. After all, losing is just a postponed victory. At the end of the day, all that matters are your success for doing those things and achieving the objectives of it.

An open letter to the president of the Philippines

ISNHS
Vigan City, Ilocos Sur

July 24. 2018

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte

President of the Philippines

Malacanang Palace, Manila, Philippines

Dear Mr. President,

Greetings! I am Adrian Carlo Paz Pablico, a 15 year old student of  Ilocos Sur National High School, and ! am writing this letter with regards to your accomplishments and future projects for our country.

First of all, I want you to know that you are my bet during the elections and I am very glad that you have won. Your campaign motto, which is, "Change is Coming" is really evident. I also like how you constrain, or how you challenge those who are abusing their power and those who are tolerating their mistakes and wrongful acts. I admit it's a bit disrespectful, offensive, and and not pleasing to hear but I think they all get what they deserve.  As a saying goes, "never let other people abuse your kindness and generosity because if you give more, they will surely ask for more." I am really thankful that you are not tolerate their immoral doings. I also want to congratulate you for all your achievements specially the anti-drug campaign. Many people are protesting and they are saying that it is a violation to human rights but if you think that it is for the goodness of all, I believe in you and I will continue to support you.

Even if many people are against you, always remember that majority of Filipinos  here and abroad voted for you. They believe in you. We will continue to support you until the end of your term. Please continue improving and developing our country. The betterment of this country will not just be a success of yours but also for the people who are supporting you and together with your administration.

                    Repectfully yours,

Adrian Carlo Paz Pablico

5 Shades; Freed

Our country, the Philippines, has been colonized by the Japanese, the Spaniards, and the Americans many years ago. Several years later, it was declared that our country was already free from their hands. Yes, it was a long time ago when the Philippines became an independent country, but why do we celebrate it even up to now? Is it necessary to celebrate it?

We all know that the Philippines is an independent country. We celebrate this yearly because first off, it commemorates the day, June 12, year 1898, when President Emilio Aguinaldo, the current president during the time, declared that we are already free from the hands of the colonizers. Second, it is because we are giving honor and love to the people, our national heroes, who spent their lives pursuing to end the the abuses, sufferings, violence, maltreatment, and dreadful punishments from the Spaniards who invaded our country. These people really deserve an honor for they used inadequate armors and equipment, and some only used an ink of a pen and a piece of paper just to fight for the right to independence and to claim the freedom that we once had. We celebrate the independence of our country also because we need to promote a healthy nationalism, as a part of our responsibility as citizens of this nation.  It is also because it paved way to the Philippines' better self-government learning to become more civilized and educated.

Even if so, we must never forget that, even if we are already independent, it does not mean that we are completely free. We must always think that our country is still a developing one, and there are a lot of bigger countries that can invade and destroy in just a snap. History may repeat itself. Of course, we are not going to let it happen again. That is why we must bear in our hearts and in our minds that the Philippines is ours. It is our own. As citizens of this country, we are obliged to be more responsible and productive. We must never forget the sacrifices that our heroes had done. We must prove that we are really independent. We must never forget our love for our country. And this makes the 5 shades complete. with this, we will live in a peaceful yet happy and progressive Philippines.
